He lived between 1048-1085 he lived in China and China made up 25%-30% of the global GDP at the time. The China Song Dynasty was one of the most wealthy empires of all time. They earned this money by increased technological advancements and a strong taxation system ahead of it's time. It helped that the government was really centralized giving the emperor almost complete control over the government.
#2 Augustus Caesar
He was the ruler of Rome from 63BC-14AD with a wealth of 4.6 trillion days. He was in charge of the empire that accounted for 25%-30% of the world's economic output. At one point he even got a wealth of 1/5 of Rome's economy. That would be equivalent of 4.6 trillion dollars by 2014 and not to mention he owned Egypt by himself.
#1 Mansa Musa
He lived between 1280-1337 in the country of Mali he was so rich you couldn't even describe how rich they were. He was the ruler of Timbuktu and is called the world's richest person in history. At the time Mansa Musa was the ruler of the largest producer of gold at the time and gold was in high demand. Their is no accurate way of imagining his wealth because poor records were kept and the records that were kept were to high and unbelievable for the time. It is said he was so rich on a trip to Mecha he brought 100 of pounds of gold on each camel of a parade of camels and nearly crushed Egypt's economy. It is also said that he had an army of over 200,000 people at his call.
